ignor ethe wild hair - i swear, we comb it!
today was kayleigh's SIXTH! birthday. i cannot believe i've been a mom for six years, and that she's grown into her own so well. she's still a tiny little thing, but she's so confident, you barely notice her size. i hope she stays that way forever!
her cake was fun to make (NOT!).... that fondant again. lol. gotta love making that stuff. what a mess. but it worked out okay. this is kayleigh's second doll cake. hopefully the last - they're a little creepy - lol! she was all set for a musical note cake, but changed her mind last minute. she loved it, and that is all that matters!

when we lived in virginia, we had to pay extra for our renter's insurance because it was a flood and hurricane zone. apparently colorado's plains make us pretty susceptible to tornadoes! lovely. one touched down 2 miles away a week ago. flipped some cars, ripped some roofs off, and broke a bunch of windows. pretty scary. i think it's the closest i've ever been to one.

when we first were leaving virginia a year ago, i thought i'd never see open space again. on the map, denver looked so .... congested. much to my surprise, there is MORE around us now than there was there! of course in five years there will probably be a super walmart back here, and a ton more houses, but for now, we've got cows behind our house. and i love it.

i played with the vintage scale i bought for the new baby this morning. not the most sturdy for chubba. natural light in living room (too lazy to set the bee up).
john took this sitting on the couch - hence the super unflattering angle, lol. i can't believe i'm 18 weeks already. we have our ultrasound scheduled for the 25th - 2 days after kayleigh's birthday! :) we still plan on keep the gender a surprise until delivery. hopefully we can be strong!
